NOTACON is an annual event that focuses on people who like to build, make, break and hack stuff. For many, it is a different kind of conference experience, while maintaining some familiar aspects of other hacker conferences. We showcase technologies, philosophy and creativity often overlooked at other events.

Our goal is to enlighten, educate, and entertain THOSE who choose to enlighten themselves.  This is done by finding new ways to apply technology to everyday life, the creative arts and social interaction. In short, Notacon is about hacking life.

Notacon espouses an ethos of exploration, participation and positive contributions. We do not shy away from controversial material, but maintain an environment of respect and dignity.

Notacon starts  with a free public preview on Thursday evening and closes on Sunday afternoon. During the weekend, there are many activities and at least 3 tracks of presentations, workshops, performances and demonstrations. In addition, space is dedicated to hardware hacking, streaming radio, locksport, amateur radio and coding.

Saturday night features PixelJam, our very own demoparty.  Entries are screened on a high definition video projector and massive sound system.  Every participant at Notacon can vote on the entries in the categories that vary from 3D graphics to video game design and photography.  Cash and prizes are award to winners.

If you would like to join the community, please explore our getting involved section. Also check out our archives from previous years which feature information and recordings of those events.
